Right now, I have 17 page views per week. I haven't made any videos yet, but I have talked to people and they have looked at my website. Some people have said that
If you asked a person what qualities the average genius has, he or she would probably say a high IQ, high marks on the ACT, and high scores on other tests of intelligence. In reality, a true genius thinks with creativity. They do not solve problems off of what someone else taught them, they look at every option. Instead of taking the most obvious approach and leaving out all other options, they use every option they can think of. Our genius hour project encourages to think like a genius because our goal is to get people to think out of the box. Instead of someone thinking "I will never listen to rap music because I won't like it", we are trying to get them to break out of their shells.
Over the last few weeks, me and my partner have have done some work for our projects. The first thing that we addressed was make an outline for what we are going to do. We talked about what types of information to put in our videos. We also talked about how we wanted to present our videos. We will have segments in our videos that have certain topics. For instance, one of our topics will be about new hip-hop songs or albums coming up. Segments like that one will be what is in our shows.
We haven't, however, started actually making our videos yet. We hope to start making some soon, we just need the time to do it. We already have content and ideas for our videos, we just need to make them. We also haven't decided on how we want to get people to know where our videos will be. We were thinking social media may be the best way to accomplish our goal. Our first few videos will be kind of like test videos. We will take what people say about and what problems it may have to make our videos better. We believe that we can have decent success if we follow our plan. What is your five step plan to meet your Genius Hour goal by May 6th?
The first step we are going to take to meet our goal is to make an outline for the content in our videos. We need to decide on how we are going make our videos and what we are going to put in them. The second step is to make the videos and get them out for people to watch. The third step is to get people to know about our videos so people can find us. Our fourth step is to set up when and where to take our videos. Our fifth step is to receive feedback from our videos and take the criticism that we get to make better videos. With these five steps, I think we can accomplish our goal of getting people to try something new and have fun with our project. The aspect that I enjoy most about my Genius Hour project is researching different websites and figuring out different segments to put in our videos to enhance the enjoyment of people that watch our videos. I have already found about ten great informational websites to implement into our videos. It is interesting to find all of the useful tools that I have found that I did not know about before.
My least favorite aspect of this project is trying to find out a way to appeal to people. It is hard to do this project because you either like the music or you do not. It is also hard because of the massive use of profanity in the genre of rap music. I also think that some people were just born to like that type of music. I ask myself again and again why I like the music so much and I can never come up with an answer. Those reasons are why this will be so hard and why figuring out how to make rap music a positive to people will be my least favorite part. After watching Ken Robinson's TED Talk about education, I do think it has a lot to with the idea of Genius Hour. He talked about how the legislation is trying to find one broad learning scheme and how that is not good idea because everyone has their own personality. Genius Hour is a very effective way to let kids use their imagination and do something that they are actually interested in. I agreed with most of what he had to say. I think it is true that too many kids are dropping out, and I think that part of the problem is that the legislation is not very effective.
I predict that my biggest obstacle for doing this project is the fact that the topic that will be covered is not a very popular topic. It will not be very easy to attain an audience and get my site popular. Rap music also is very vulgar most of the time. Addressing that and trying to make the topic interesting enough for people to look at my videos will not be an easy task.
Even though the odds are stacked against me in doing this project and having any success, I will do my best to make it work. I will do my absolute best to try and make it interesting for people. The goal of this project is not necessarily to make people like rap music, it is just to try make people like something new. The major way I will end up making this project popular is by using social media. It is an internet based project so I figured that I might as well use the internet and social media to promote the website. I will also talk about it in school with my friends and try to spread the word that way. If I could make my Genius Hour Project the best I could, I would have to be very rich and powerful. I would get famous rappers to come to my house and do interviews with them. I would go to famous events like the BET Awards. For my project to be the absolute best it can be, I would have to drop out of school, win the lottery and get plane tickets every weekend to go to rappers' house and meet their friends.
Another thing that could make this project unlock its full potential would be an expensive video editing app. I have no idea how much they are or what brand to use, but I am sure that they are expensive. I plan on making videos on a weekly basis for my project, and a good video editor would make my videos much more interesting. I believe that it could really enhance my viewer's experience and enhance the content of my videos. |
